From Real Materials By Real People

We at Hakola have been manufacturing sofas and furniture in the same factory for over 50 years. Each sofa is handmade to the customer’s order. It is important for us to maintain the fine handcrafting tradition of Ostrobothnia. We also want to fight against throw-away culture – our sofas and furniture are built to last for generations.

How Our Sofas Are Made

The manufacture of a sofa always begins with the frame. Our frames are produced for us by local craftsmen in their own workshops, using solid birch or spruce, as well as birch plywood. The final step is attaching sprightly springs to our frames, which provide excellent seating comfort. We do not use chipboard in any of our products.

At our own factory, the sofa manufacturing continues with the cutting of the fabric. It is cut by hand with the aid of pattern pieces, after which our seamstress sews the pieces into slipcovers. We only use the highest grades of fabric, which are durable, easy to clean and safe.

The frame is glued with the necessary padding, which is still topped with a finish of neat cotton wool. Finally, our upholsterer adjusts the slipcover into place and the seat and back cushions are covered. Now the sofa is ready to be delivered to our customers!

Tables And Other Interior Products

Our furniture and our other smaller wooden interior products are handmade by carpenters in our factory from beginning to end. The materials used are mostly ash, oak or larch. Our metal parts are subcontracted locally.
